Ensuring Reliability of Backbone Architectures in Wireless Sensor Networks

- Reliability of an event driven WSN application depends on the connectivity patterns of the network. The reliability of such networks is dependent on the successful delivery of the message. . Among other quality metrics, establishment of the final communication path becomes important. We try to estimate the reliability of backbone assisted networks against node failures attributed to energy depletion. Our algorithm ensures successful establishment of communicating paths with alternate parents to counter against node failures. It is seen that with the help of alternate parents that complete the broken path of communication, the overall reliability of the network increases, improving the fault tolerance of the links and the robustness of the architecture.
