- The increased demand of portable systems have drawn the interest of researchers towards low profile systems. For designing of low profile communication systems, critical parameter is the size of antenna due to advancement in integrated circuit technology. Despite having narrow-band properties triangular patch antennas are one of the most preferred shapes in recent research works because of having smaller coverage area attributes are however similar to rectangular patches. A simulative design and analysis of microstrip fed triangular patch antenna is presented here for microwave applications. Being an edge fed antenna, the optimization of the design is done by selecting proper dimension and location of matching Quarter wave transformer. The designed antenna resonates at 10 GHz with S_11 = -18.28 dB for the centre location of the feed. The simulations were performed on FEM based HFSS software. By keeping the substrate thickness constant, the results obtained show the effects of changing the feed point location on gain, directivity and other parameters of the triangular patch antenna.
