Modelling and Simulation of PHY Layer of IEEE 802.22 over a Multipath Fading Channel

In this we are analyzing the strength of physical layer module of IEEE 802.22 standard against multipath Rayleigh fading channel. A cognitive radio is a technique used that detects best accessible channels in wireless spectrum. OFDMA is the modulation scheme used for transmission in up and downlinks. The aim of this work is to simulate the IEEE 802.22 transceiver. For this we have used MATLAB 2010 simulation. In order to improve the readability of the model various mathematical operations described in the standard are implemented in SIMULINK package of MATLAB. As per the standard there are 16 PHY modes that can be used for transmission. Here it is limited to, only selected 8 modes which cover every variation of configuration of convolution encoder, interleaver and modulation scheme.
