Determination of Voltage Stability Using Sensitivity Indicator

Shantasree Roy; Madhabi Jamatia; Sangita Das Biswas
The power system is a highly non-linear system due to the constantly changing loads, generator outputs and key operating parameters. When subjected to a disturbance, the stability of the power system depends on the initial operating conditions and the type of disturbance occurred. Power system stability is a single problem; but in order to deal with different types of instabilities occurring in the system. Voltage instability impact on the system can be wide spread as it depends on the relationship between transmitted active power (P), injected reactive power (Q) and receiving end voltage magnitude (V). In this thesis we observed the nose point of P-V and Q-V curves using MATLAB software. In both the curves the nose points of the characteristics represent voltage stability limit. Voltage stability using reactive power sensitivity is analyzed for IEEE 25-bus system.
