CODS: Consistency Based Optimal Data Replication Scheme In Manet

A MANET is a self-configuring network and is a collection of mobile hosts that are connected via wireless links. In ad hoc networks due to frequent network partition, mobile hosts in one of the partitions cannot access the data held by the mobile hosts in the other partition. This situation considerably reduces data availability. In this paper, the problem is solved by replicating data items on mobile hosts. Due to frequent network partitioning and write operations performed by mobile host, replicas of a data item may be inconsistent. The main aim of this paper is to develop an optimal data replication scheme for the quorum based consistent network. A new replication technique is implemented to balance the trade-offs between the two metrics, data availability and query delay in a consistent network. We also show the results of simulation experiments regarding the performance evaluation of these two metrics.
