Effect of Slot Opening Angle on the Cogging Torque in PMSM Motor

The cogging torque is one the most important factors in making noise in PMSM motor structure. Therefore, one of the primary purposes in PMSM motor design is to decrease cogging torque ripple in motor structure. In this paper based on the 2-D model of PMSM motor, effect of slot opening angle on the cogging torque investigated. The method is for both integral and fractional poles motor, considered motor here are a motor with 4 and 10 poles with 24 slots.
