The intermittent nature of energy resources and fault conditions there is change in voltage and frequency of the power supply, causes the transients in the system. Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the power electronic system used to control the transients in the system, voltage profile and also improve the stability of the power system. In the past decade many techniques are evolved, among them power oscillation damping controller (PODC) based technique providing more effective control. Many auxiliary control methods are designed to control the transients in the system faster. But for operating sophisticated load and to reduce the losses more effectively its very important to design or develop the robust PODC. In this paper it is proposed a digital PODC for more effective control of UPSC. The complete system is designed in MATLAB and simulated. The results show the effectiveness of the system as compare to all other existing techniques.
